What's causing the explosion of Sargassum sea weed

There is a lot of discussion about seaweed washing up on the shore of Caribbean Islands, but no one is giving a satisfactory explanation on the cause. Kevin Kenny suggests that the explosion in growth is a direct result of global warming and the increase of CO2 in the atmosphere.
