Inside The Story: The Making of The Cokeville Miracle(KUTV) A terrifying yet miraculous event that happened nearly 30 years ago in the small town of Cokeville, Wyoming will soon come to life on the big screen, thanks to a Utah film maker. On May 16, 1986, the husband and wife team, David and Dorsie Young, stormed an elementary school and took everyone hostage with a homemade bomb and guns."They got the entire student body and teachers 154 people into one classroom and held them for 2 1/2 hours with guns and a bomb," said Christensen. When the bomb went off in that classroom loaded with kids and teachers only the Young's were killed."Right now we are doing kind of a creepy kind of a thing, it's right before the bomb goes off," said filmmaker TC Christensen to 2News' Dan Rascon on the movie set at Whiteside Elementary in Layton as they film one of the scenes.Christensen's latest movies include 17 Miracles and Ephraims Rescue. What captured Christensen's interest was the miracle that happened when the bomb did go off."The only two people killed in the incident were the two perpetrators- the nut and his wife," said Christensen. "That's our third act of the film we go back and show the incident again, what really happened in the room and I found that was a worthwhile story."According to some kids they saw angels protect them."I was 12-years-old in 6th grade when it happened in 1986," said Kamron Wixom one of the 154 survivors and who is helping out with the movie. "The bomb went off and it should have taken down a whole lot more of that building than it did --- a lot of kids got burned and injured but all of us survived.""It would be really scary," said Alexa Nielsen who plays one of the school children in the movie. "She has a brother that saw angels."Jason Wade plays the lead investigator on the case. "There are a few events that happen in this that I'm trying to wrap my brain around, but I have to believe it. There are just too many witnesses to it. Too many incredible things happened," said Wade. Christensen hopes to finish filming by the end of the summer, and the movie is expected to come out a year later. As for Christensen's next movie? He says he won't start thinking about that until he's finished shooting this one.By: Dan Rascon
