Sonko claims President Uhuru Kenyatta's relative tried to push for the appointment Deputy Governor
The high court sitting in Nairobi has allowed the withdrawal of a case challenging the nomination of Anne Kananu Mwenda by ousted Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko to be his deputy last year. High court judge Hedwig Ongundi said in his order that no prejudice will be suffered if the petition is withdrawn. The petitioner peter Odhiambo Agoro had challenged the nomination of Kananu seeking to stop the process of vetting that would lead to her appointment as deputy governor of Sonko. Following the order, her name was never presented to the county assembly for vetting. Meanwhile, ousted Nairobi governor mike Sonko now claims that a relative of president Uhuru Kenyatta tried pushing for the appointment of a deputy governor last year. In the court documents, Sonko alleged that president Uhuru Kenyatta sister Christina pratt Kenyatta called him just before he was impeached asking him to nominate one Jane Weru as the deputy governor and revoke the nomination of Anne Kananu Mwenda. The ousted governor in his case wants the court to stop the Nairobi county assembly from vetting and approving his earlier nominee Anne Kananu Mwenda as deputy governor. \#Kenya #KTNNews #KTNPrimeSUBSCRIBE to our YouTube channel for more great videos: https://www.youtube.com/Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/KTNNews Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/KTNNewsKenya For more great content go to http://www.standardmedia.co.ke/ktnnews and download our apps:http://std.co.ke/apps/#android KTN News is a leading 24-hour TV channel in Eastern Africa with its headquarters located along Mombasa Road, at Standard Group Centre.
