Crazy Carnival in Germany - Documentary of 2014 (HD 1080p)
Every year before Lent, millions of people work themselves up into a state of collective euphoria. In Cologne this popular festival is known as Carnival or „Fastelovend“. For some it is much more than just a few days of fun. Not everything is over after Ash Wednesday. No climax without prelude; no spectacle without rehearsal. After Carnival is before Carnival. For his film ”Carnival! Proud to be mad“, award-winning filmmaker Claus Wischman ("Kinshasa Symphony") became part of this madness for one year. Born in Westphalia, Wischmann has the necessary distance and curiosity for this subject. Five seasons long, he was missing the line between fun and seriousness. He's showing us where the Carnival in Cologne is hidden all year long, how he lives on, changes and how he is prepared. Tobias wants to be a 'Büttenredner', but he struggles with family problems and the high expectations. Biggi, a 82 year old "Mutter der Mariechen" demonstrates to young dancers the correct posture. Prison guard Ralf has his best jokes from the imprisoned men. The nine year old Stephan is hurrying from gig to gig. Helmut is selling the newest Carnival-trend already in summer. - Carnival makes them heroes for the moment.
